Compassion In Deeds Scholarship Program

The Compassion in Deeds scholarship program provides financial assistance to Vietnamese students attending primary and secondary school. These scholarships help children from low-income families whose educational pursuits are jeopardized due to lack of financial resources.

Tuitions at primary and secondary schools in Vietnam average around $70 a year per child, while average family income is less than $100 a month; because of this, children from low-income families often have to drop out of school in order to help provide for their families. These children then never receive a proper education and grow up with less opportunities for a better life. Our scholarships, which range from $100 to $120 a year, are distributed directly to recipients in order for them to pay for their basic educational needs, which include tuition, uniforms, and school supplies. To encourage students to remain in school, we pledge to assist recipients with financial scholarships each year until graduation, provided they keep in good academic standing.

Since 2008, the Compassion in Deeds scholarship program has sponsored many children, growing in number each year from the initial 13 scholarships to 110 scholarships in the current 2016-2017 school year. We provide scholarships to children of low-income families in several regions of Vietnam, including the rural areas in the southern region near Ho Chi Minh City, central region near Binh-Thuan, Hue and Da-Nang, and the highlands region near Pleiku and Kon-Tum.

Fresh Water Wells Project

The purpose behind The Fresh Water Wells Project is to provide fresh water to villages and rural communities in the central highlands region in Vietnam that do not otherwise have easy access to clean water.  People who live in this area have to travel for miles to streams and rivers to get fresh water for common household usage such as cooking, washing, and bathing.

Compassion In Deeds began this project in 2013. With the support from our donors, we were able to fund the construction of over forty freshwater wells in the rural areas and central highlands region of Vietnam in the past four years.  These wells were built on communal properties and school grounds to maximize benefits to the communities.

Your contributions can make a big difference in the lives of many poor families.
